Worship

Sunday Morning

Worship is the heartbeat of the Christian life. It is where we are reminded who we are as God's beloved children, where we tell the story of God's love in Jesus Christ, and where we participate in the Sacraments that reveal that love enacted in our lives. We gather each Sunday to "rehearse" the Christian life together in worship so we can be sent out into the world to proclaim the Good News of God's love in Jesus Christ to our neighbors, our families, our friends, and the world. Worship is in our Sanctuary every Sunday morning at 10 a.m. and live-streamed online on our Youtube Channel, @WorshipCottonwood. Here is a little more information about the folks that lead us in worship and what to expect. We hope you will come and join us.

MUSIC

  • COTTONWOOD CHOIR

Cottonwood Choir sings during Sunday services several times per month, usually on the first and third Sundays (and occasionally the fourth) between September and May. They enjoy singing anthems that tie in with the weekly messages as well as leading and supporting the congregation in the hymns. All ages, vocal ranges and levels of experience are welcome to join us. Our choir is a diverse group who loves to sing and worship through music together. They sing a wide range of styles from different time periods. Rehearsals are Wednesdays from 6:00-7:30pm in the sanctuary.

  • Cottonwood Bell Choir

The bell choir performs monthly at Sunday worship services and for special occasions throughout the year. They rehearse Wednesdays from 4:30-5:30pm in the sanctuary. Bell choir always has a lot of fun and we enjoy making uplifting music together. We are always looking for new, interested people to join us – and you do not have to know how to read music.

If you are interested in joining either the choir or bell choir, please email Kathy Fisher (director) at music@cottonwoopres.org.

  • COTTONWOOD PRAISE BAND

The praise band plays in services on the second Sunday of the month, performing both the anthem and congregational hymn accompaniments. Band members come from different musical backgrounds and together they enjoy enhancing worship through contemporary music.

ART

Several times throughout the year we have an art exhibit that connects with our sermon series. We invite artists from within our congregation and from the larger community to express the biblical text or the theme of the sermon series. Their piece of art is then displayed during the worship service and then moved to our art gallery for the duration of the series. Seeing the text and theme expressed visually enables us as a community of faith to more deeply engage in what God is saying to us today.
