At Cottonwood we love kids. We desire to nurture faith from the nursery throughout life. We look forward to sharing our love of God with your kids. We hope kids join us in worship, but there is child-care available. We have a Sunday School program that includes a children’s choir as well as educational opportunities. We also have a Church School program that takes place during the 11:00 a.m. worship service immediately following the Children’s Sermon. In the summer we have a Vacation Bible School and through the year we have service and fellowship opportunities for kids and their families. We invite you to check out our ministry to kids.
COTTONWOOD PRESBYTERIAN … A PLACE FOR YOU AND YOUR CHILDREN
WELCOMING CHILDREN IN WORSHIP
“Whoever welcomes one such child in my name welcomes me.” Mark 9:37
We believe at Cottonwood that worship is an essential way we learn what it means to be Christian. By enabling children to worship with their families, and the larger church family, every Sunday, they learn that they belong to Christ and are welcome in his church. They learn the Lord’s Prayer, participate in communion, witness baptism, and other parts of the liturgy.
In addition to the enrichment they receive in worship, Children’s Church School reinforces church worship and follows the Liturgical calendar. They hear stories from the Bible read and interpreted. They are enriched by the beauty of music and art as expressions of praise and as their responses to God. They build a store of the accumulated shared experiences of Christian community from which they may draw when they are older. They discover that they are valued as persons by God and by the people of God.
FAMILY BOWLING PARTY - Children’s Christian Ed is planning a Sunday afternoon bowling party at Big City Lanes in Midvale. Winter blaaz doesn’t have to get you down. Come out with your family and enjoy the fun as we bowl on March 15th from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m. A game is $3.00/Shoes $2.50. Snack bar and pub are open if you wish to have a snack while we bowl. Maybe even get a bit of competition going to add to the fun. Bowling lanes are busy and we do need to reserve lanes. If you are maybe thinking of joining us please let me know. No money commitment needed until that Sunday. Call Pat Kristensen if you would like to join us.
CHILDREN’S TIME during the 11:00 a.m. worship service is very short on teachers. From time to time, all kids will be in worship service. If there is no children's time on select Sunday's, then older kids get to sit with family or upfront with friends in the comfy chairs. Younger kids can go to the nursery. Families can decide what is best for their kids. If you are interested in teaching or shadowing a children's time class, please contact Merri Lee Zaba at firstname.lastname@example.org.
ANNUAL EASTER CELEBRATION AND EGG HUNT IS ON! Saturday, April 4th at 10:00 a.m. A LOT of candy is needed to fill the 1500+ eggs that are put out each year for this popular community event. Volunteers are also needed. Look for the volunteer sign-up sheet during Sunday Fellowship, starting in March. It will be another great celebration of our Savior's resurrection.
VACATION BIBLE SCHOOL discussions have begun. If you would like to provide significant leadership for this 3-day event, please contact Sonita Almas or Merri Lee Zaba. Early August dates are being considered, but are not yet set.

Christmas Program 2014
Children in Mission - “Faith without works is dead”The children at Cottonwood are learning through their mission work at the church and in the community to put service above self. Their summer mission project will be to support Family Promise as they did two years ago.
Children's Christmas Program
Summer for the children at Cottonwood was busy with fellowship activities, Vacation Bible School, and mission projects. The congregation enjoyed several choral programs during services and the birthday of the Church. Now Fall is in the air. Just as the leaves begin to change colors, there is also change for the children at Cottonwood. Pastor Tom blessed the children’s back packs and prayed that each would have an exciting, productive, and fun school year. The children made a Harvest Cross with the bounties from the soul garden. “There is a time for everything, and a season for every activity under heaven”. We can enjoy and thank God for so much this time of year. The school program begins on September 15th for all ages.
Please join us.
