We hope you will join us for the second annual May Faire in the SOUL Community
Garden at Cottonwood Presbyterian Church. We look forward to dancing around the
Maypole with you! Live music, storytelling, and a beautiful family day! Remember to
bring a yummy dish to share, a bouquet of flowers to share for head garlands, and

May 20 - Last day of Sunday School before Summer and CCE Volunteer Appreciation Day
May 27 - Pentecost Sunday, everyone wear red!
June 3 - Summer Church School continues every Sunday during 10:00 a.m.
Worship. Many fun activities are planned throughout the summer! Keep the kids in
the church habit.
Also, this year Vacation Bible School will be a little different. Details are being
confirmed, so stay tuned….

The Children’s Christian Education team is looking for people to support our growing children’s ministry (have you seen the crowd of kids during the Children’s Sermon?!). We need teachers for both Sunday School and Church School. We need people to do various small jobs like design bulletin boards on a quarterly basis; plan fellowship activities for families on a quarterly basis; be our treasurer for our budget; write communications for the Courier, web and local newspapers as needed. The list goes on. You get the idea. We need people!

Palm Sunday is the Christian tradition that refers to this day as the day of Jesus triumphal entry into Jerusalem. Multitudes were shouting Hosanna and waving palm branches in their hands as He entered the city. Cottonwood commemorates this day with the children and choir by carrying and waving palms and bringing them to the altar.

We believe at Cottonwood that worship is an essential way we learn what it means to be Christian. By enabling children to worship with their families, and the larger church family, every Sunday, they learn that they belong to Christ and are welcome in his church. They learn the Lord’s Prayer, participate in communion, witness baptism, and other parts of the liturgy.

In addition to the enrichment they receive in worship, Children’s Church School reinforces church worship and follows the Liturgical calendar. They hear stories from the Bible read and interpretted. They are enriched by the beauty of music and art as expressions of praise and as their responses to God. They build a store of the accumulated shared experiences of Christian community from which they may draw when they are older. They discover that they are valued as persons by God and by the people of God.
